Three pounds down in three weeks. That is enough to keep me going! I'm going to do it this time. I'm going to have to wear t-shirts with jeans soon, being that I'm a cowgirl now, and "blousey" tops to cover my muffin top at the ranch will just look ridiculous....or super cute! No...ridiculous.
I hiked twice last week and hope to keep it up. It feels good to get my lungs working again. Wow, it's amazing how quickly you lose lung capacity! I'm going to try to get more consistent with yoga again also. But now my roping practice/obsession is in competition with my "yoga time". Must find balance...
On the horse front, I've had some wonderful break throughs with my horse. She is actually relaxing (or I am) and we are having a "conversation". She is calmer and doing some things that I'm asking her for, I've just learned not to ask for too much, too soon, or ask too loudly. She is a sensitive soul and quickly becomes unhappy and resistant if she feels my disappointment or frustration. So I have to just smile and ride....smile and ride....s..m..i..l..e.. and ride! : )

Cowgirl UP! (Down, Up, Down, Up)
I don't think they mean "weight" when people use that term, but it seems to be the case for me. However, I'm back in the saddle! (Ok, 'cowgirl' theme is officially played out.)
I hiked with my good friend and hiking buddy today for the first time in a long time, even made it almost to the top! Now I'm having home made vegetable soup, and I'll do yoga tonight (also a first in a long time). Spring is almost here and I am not ready to give up my "cowgirl coverup" (bulge defying hoodie).
We're still planning on converting the garage to a gym, but I decided I better not wait for that.
I also started Weight Watchers again because, let's face it, the recipes are so good and I'm too lazy to convert them to calories. Plus, counting calories involves too much math with big numbers. I'm no dummy, but points are easier for me to keep track of and I feel better about, say, eating 36 points Vs. having to add up 2,640 calories from three meals and a bunch of snacks. Eating a little less would probably make the math easier, but we all know....that's not really my style. My M.O. seems to be: "Do the same thing over and over and magically expect different results". I'm not ready to give up the dream just yet.
So anyway, that's where I am and I hope to find more time to blog about my adventures or misadventures because it does keep me honest!
On the horse front, things are coming along. Sort of. On our good days. I've also decided to learn how to rope, because I can't very well have a Californio Style Bridle Horse that can't have a rope thrown from her back. Sure, it's just a pipe dream now (having a Californio Style Bridle Horse). But I'm learning a lot, from a lot of different people, and getting a lot of encouragement from people who may actually want to see me succeed. I even posted this video to my "Vaquero support group" (well, not this video, but a longer one I won't bore you with), and I got a lot excellent advice and feedback (and some teasing too, but it's all in good fun). I have found that, while painful at times, I have no problem embarrassing myself to get what I want/need (which is a clue). "Determination knows no shame and has no time for sissies." (I made that up just now).
Enjoy my crappy roping, I'll post a follow up in several months and hopefully I will amaze you with my flawless technique and precision!
